Steamroller Print

A finished print hanging on my wall.
I recently finished a project I was doing with Five In One which involved cutting a 4x8' wood block and making prints of it on fabric, using a steamroller as a press.

This was my first time doing a woodcut and I loved the process!

There were something like 14 different blocks to print (many of them having ten prints each), we were there all weekend late into the night trying to get them done. But we did it!

More drying prints

The whole endeavor took I don't even know how many exhausting hours, but it was worth it. All in all, it was a really cool, really fun project and I hope I get to do it again next year! To Alice and Michael- thanks, guys!

See more great pictures over at the Five In One Tumblr.

oh man.. that's beautiful!
the picture on tumblr of your print being lifted up is amazing.

do you have any pictures of the woodcut close-up.. or any process pics of the carving?
i recently got all the bits i need to start woodcut printing.. but haven't actually started yet. procrastination because my tools came blunt, and need sharpening....

Hi Donna,
Thanks!
The only process pics I have of the carving are a few like the one in the post. This was my first time trying a woodcut, and it really wasn't too difficult once I got the hang of it.
Good luck!

I'm glad to see that there are more artists in the family.
